Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Milwaukee, WI)

We are growing our team at Summit River Insurance and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with premium billing. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Milwaukee. • We reply to every applicant.
