Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Miami, FL)

Nova Vale Water Authority Group supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Miami and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Miami. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
