Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Miami, FL)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Clear Environmental Services and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service complaints, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around landfill records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with service complaints. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Miami. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
