Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Madison, WI)

Westbrook Birch Farms Group is an agricultural business based around Madison, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with field records. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Madison. • We reply to every applicant.
