Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Madison, WI)

Cedar Mill Foods produces packaged foods at its Madison plant, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Shifts are steady and overtime is planned. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around allergen controls against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Madison. • We reply to every applicant.
