Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Madison, WI)

We are growing our team at Nova Hollow Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. We reward reliability. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Madison. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
