Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Little Rock, AR)

We are growing our team at Northwind Bridge Transit Planning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Little Rock, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
