Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Knoxville, TN)

Nova Ivory Civic Services provides shared administrative services to local governments around Knoxville, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We follow procedures carefully and explain them clearly. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around case files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to budget submissions, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with budget submissions.
