Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Knoxville, TN)

Cedar Granite Construction builds commercial and industrial projects around Knoxville. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. We build things that last and we are honest about schedules. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around materials orders against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Knoxville. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
