Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Kansas City, MO)

Nova Mill Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for service complaints, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 916 people based in Kansas City. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service complaints, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with service complaints. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Kansas City. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
