Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Jackson, MS)

We are growing our team at Highbridge Lakeside Environmental Services and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around weigh tickets against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to landfill records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with landfill records. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
