Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Jackson, MS)

Fernwood Mill Telecom is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for service installations, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service installations, and clear open items. • Track costs around field visits against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
