Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Indianapolis, IN)

Northwind Wilder Insurance is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for claims, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 439 people based in Indianapolis. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to claims, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Indianapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
