Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Indianapolis, IN)

Lumen Forge Farms is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for grower contracts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 178 people based in Indianapolis. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around packing house output against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with grower contracts.
