Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Houston, TX)

Silverline Quarry Environmental Services collects and processes waste and recycling around Houston, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to landfill records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with landfill records. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Houston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
