Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Honolulu, HI)

We are growing our team at Bright Vista Construction and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 319 people based in Honolulu. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around materials orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with project schedules. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Honolulu, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
