Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Honolulu, HI)

Harborlight Fox Insurance is an insurance company in Honolulu with claims and service teams, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 623 people based in Honolulu. What you will do • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with premium billing. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Honolulu, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
