Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Hartford, CT)

Bright Willow Early Learning Group runs childcare centres in Hartford caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to classroom supplies, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with classroom supplies. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
