Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Fresno, CA)

Westbrook Forge Transit Planning Group plans bus and rail service for cities around Fresno. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 445 people based in Fresno. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with fare systems. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
