Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Fresno, CA)

Stonegate Mill Arts Center is a cultural organisation in Fresno presenting exhibitions and performances, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Evenings and weekends are part of the job. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visitor services, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around ticketing against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Fresno. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
