Accountant - grant and fund accounting (El Paso, TX)

Fernwood Ember Markets serves neighbourhoods around El Paso with fresh food and everyday goods. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around promotions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with shrink and waste. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in El Paso. • We reply to every applicant.
