Accountant - grant and fund accounting (El Paso, TX)

Fernwood Junction Construction is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for materials orders, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Site safety is non-negotiable. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to materials orders, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
