Accountant - grant and fund accounting (El Paso, TX)

Lumen Granite Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for treatment plant data, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 560 people based in El Paso. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with treatment plant data.
