Accountant - grant and fund accounting (El Paso, TX)

Stonegate Vale Water Authority is a public water utility serving the El Paso area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 356 people based in El Paso. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to water quality, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with water quality. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in El Paso. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
