Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Detroit, MI)

Bright Wren Telecom Group provides broadband and phone service around Detroit. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. We invest in training. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service installations, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with service installations. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
