Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Detroit, MI)

Bright Juniper Environmental Services Group is an environmental-services company in Detroit with routes, transfer stations and recycling, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Early starts and steady work; we look after our drivers. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around weigh tickets against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with collection routes. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Detroit. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
