Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Detroit, MI)

Clearpath Meadow Financial Group · Detroit, MI · contract

Clearpath Meadow Financial Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for payment disputes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to payment disputes, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Detroit. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
