Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Des Moines, IA)

Cedar Bridge Care Services is a social-care provider serving older adults and people with disabilities around Des Moines. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 314 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around caregiver training against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to licensing, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with licensing. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
