Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Des Moines, IA)

Redstone Pike Auto Group serves drivers and dealerships across the Des Moines region. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 150 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around customer estimates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with vehicle inspections. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
