Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Des Moines, IA)

Foxglove Fern Arts Center is an arts centre in Des Moines with a full calendar of events, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around visitor services against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ticketing. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
