Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Des Moines, IA)

Lumen Lakeside Arts Center is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for school partnerships, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 24 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school partnerships, and clear open items. • Track costs around visitor services against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with school partnerships.
