Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Des Moines, IA)

Foxglove Wren Environmental Services Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for collection routes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 17 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to collection routes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
