Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Denver, CO)

Fernwood Ashton Arts Center is an arts centre in Denver with a full calendar of events, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around exhibitions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school partnerships, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with school partnerships. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Denver, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
