Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Denver, CO)

Highbridge Iron Construction Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for change orders, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We build things that last and we are honest about schedules. What you will do • Track costs around subcontractor invoices against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with change orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Denver. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
