Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Dallas, TX)

Northwind Meridian Foods Group makes sauces, snacks and prepared meals in Dallas. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 41 people based in Dallas. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around production batches against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to allergen controls, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Dallas, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
