Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Cincinnati, OH)

Stonegate West Farms supplies farm and food customers across the Cincinnati region, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Weather sets the schedule, and we plan around it. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to packing house output, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with packing house output. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Cincinnati, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
