Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Chicago, IL)

Greenridge Summit Auto Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for vehicle inspections, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Technicians are respected and trained. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to vehicle inspections, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with vehicle inspections. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Chicago, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
