Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Charlotte, NC)

Ironwood Meadow Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for billing accounts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Charlotte, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
