Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Charlotte, NC)

Northwind Quarry Environmental Services is an environmental-services company in Charlotte with routes, transfer stations and recycling. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 18 people based in Charlotte. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Charlotte. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
