Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Charlotte, NC)

Highbridge Field Water Authority Group supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Charlotte and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with pipe repairs. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Charlotte. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
