Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Charleston, SC)

Greenridge Iron Community Partners is a nonprofit in Charleston supporting families with food, housing and job help. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Mission matters here, and so does looking after staff. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around benefits enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Charleston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
