Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Charleston, SC)

Fernwood Keystone Freight is a Charleston logistics company with trucks, warehouses and dispatch. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Dispatch, drivers and warehouse staff talk to each other constantly. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with customer tracking. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Charleston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
