Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Buffalo, NY)

Amberfield Forge Freight Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for dock schedules, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 385 people based in Buffalo. What you will do • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to dock schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with dock schedules. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Buffalo, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
