Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Birmingham, AL)

Rivermark Orchard Care Services supports families and individuals in Birmingham with personal care and coordination, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 38 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with client records.
