Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Birmingham, AL)

Foxglove Junction Community Partners Group · Birmingham, AL · contract

Foxglove Junction Community Partners Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for food distribution, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We are small enough to know everyone's name. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to food distribution, and clear open items. • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with food distribution. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Birmingham, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
