Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Baltimore, MD)

We are growing our team at Summit River Financial and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Career paths are clear. What you will do • Track costs around loan applications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer onboarding, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Baltimore. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
