Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Anchorage, AK)

Nova Meadow Water Authority is a public water utility serving the Anchorage area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Our work is invisible when it goes well, and we are proud of that. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with pipe repairs. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Anchorage. • We reply to every applicant.
