Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Anchorage, AK)

Clearpath Sparrow Environmental Services Partners collects and processes waste and recycling around Anchorage. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service complaints, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around landfill records against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with service complaints. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Anchorage, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
