Accountant - fixed assets (Virginia Beach, VA)

We are growing our team at Northwind Timber Construction and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. We build things that last and we are honest about schedules. What you will do • Track costs around project schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Virginia Beach, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
