Accountant - fixed assets (Virginia Beach, VA)

We are growing our team at Fernwood North Early Learning Partners and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. Children come first and so does looking after the teachers. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to licensing records, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with licensing records. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Virginia Beach, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
